Everyone has heard that round robin reading is a thing of the past. Now, we know students need to hear the text read to them or engage in Silent Sustained Reading. More, we need to talk about the text read through engaging discussion, or even write about it!

Literature circles are when students read literature, then write journal responses and talk about what they have read through discussion prompts. They also engage in extension projects, which can show the themes learned or problems solved through a creative process. You will also learn how to choose the right kind of book, and how to group students accordingly.

I'd like to hear about your experiences with literature circles! What books did you use? How did you group students? How did you keep students engaged and on task? Also, you can get ideas from others that post here! Beg, borrow, and steal!

Went to Leah's baby shower today. People really take care of you when you have a baby. She got everything! She's so cute with her big belly and her tiny little self. Livie is really prego too and she did a great job on the shower. I kinda want a baby now, but not really. I forgot to put the chip in my camera, so no pictures ...boo!

Eeeek! I just blew a lot of money on two Anthropologie coats that I found on ebay. I let Josh go to Islands of Adventure last summer and spend the night without me, so I said that someday I would want something back. I worked all weekend and will again this summer too, so I deserve it.

For some reason the images are not showing, but I'll take pics when I get them.

Didn't get the cape :(

Making a blue/white Magic deck. A lot of dodging other cards. There are so many cards to go through though! These are just the new ones. We bought a fat pack today, but nothing good. I have a blue/white plainswalker though!!

Just tried out my new deck against Josh's poison one. I lost 3-0 :( I need to trade out for some lands.

I have been into zombies and such lately. The yumminess for brains first began when Josh introduced to me to all these cheesy zombie flicks. I never really saw such cheesy goodness. However, I stuck to my guns about playing Halo 3 though. I would play old school Mario, Zelda, or Tetris at home and bring my knitting to the Halo parties. Now, with the onslaught of Halo 3 madness; I've been pulled into the destruction. I'm really bad, as any newbie would be, but the Halo parties are fun. There is another zombie game that I'm playing called Urban Dead. I'm a zombie and love to eat brains! brh? you say. I'm starting to see how the pull for havoc. gahhrrr. Oh, yeah, and I want this from threadless, but *boo* it's not a T-shirt yet >_<...

Human nature has a wound
It begins after we are born whole
We are left with a half and a need to heal
Through finding the other half
A search that ends with completeness
This is very cliché, but something to ponder and appreciate when one is lucky enough to have found it. Read more...Collapse )

[Current Music |"The Best Damn Thing" by Avril Lavigne]

Oooops, if you read my journal entry for "Exploring Florida," when I went to South Beach, then you may have noticed that I accidentally said that Miami is full of Post-Modernism Art, but what I mean to say is Art Deco. Actually, "South Beach in Miami, FL has the largest collection of Art Deco architecture remaining in North America. So, I've been researching it and if you would like to know about it, then here's my rendition." Read more...Collapse )
